Central Training Establishment Air India was established in October 10, 1958 by Air India, formerly known as Indian Airlines. It is located within the proximity of the Old Hyderabad Airport and is about 8km from Secunderabad Railway Station and about 35km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad. Moreover, it has campuses in Mumbai and New Delhi. 

The simulator center is the first Approved Training organization (ATO) in India.

CTE Hyderabad currently houses two A-320 Simulators and in the process of installing ATR 72-600 Simulator, number of class rooms with state of the art infrastructure with associated training aids. It also houses a huge swimming pool for conduct of wet drill for pilots and cabin crew and escape slide mock up, fire drill and A320 family door trainer.

CTE, Mumbai campus has one B-787, one B-777, one B-737-8, one B-747-400 simulators and associated training aids such as door trainer, escape slide mock up and sufficient number of class rooms.

CTE, Delhi Campus is a recent addition and has the class room infrastructure for conduct of ground classes for flight crew.

In terms of residential accommodation, the Central Training Establishment Hostel has 5 buildings with well-furnished rooms and attached bathrooms. A complement of dining halls, lounges, clubhouse, tennis and badminton courts complete the picture. The infrastructure and services are in place to cater efficiently and easily to large groups of trainees.
