Gil Layt's Flying School, located at Archerfield Airport Queensland, was established in 1975 by husband and wife team, Gil and Sue Layt. They have been teaching people to fly since 1975 and many of their previous students are now pilots for major domestic and international airlines. Gil Layt's Flying School is based at Archerfield Aerodrome the school offers instruction under CASA regulation and allows greater flexibility in scheduling, ground instruction, and flight lesson sequence. The Gil Layt’s Flying School management team are a professional and cohesive team that displays a clear understanding of their role and their respective responsibilities to both the international aviation industry and to the students.

Since 1975 many of Gil Layt's Flying School previous students are now pilots for Qantas (both domestic and international), Malaysian, Swiss Air, Cathay Pacific and more. The school has taught international students from Japan, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Switzerland, New Zealand, Britain and Fiji, just to name a few.
