Qatar Aeronautical College was established in 1977 with assistance from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Formerly known as Civil Aviation College of Gulf States, the flight school changed its name in 1996 to Qatar Aeronautical College and expanded its programmes. Aside from airline pilot courses, it also offers aircraft maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers, meteorologists, airport operations management personnel, and flight dispatchers.

Qatar Aeronautical College is known as a world-class training institution for the aviation industry. It is located in Al Khulaifat Area off Ras AbuAbboud Expressway. It is strategically located between Doha International Airport (OTBD) and Hamad International Airport (OTHH).

Training is done with a total of 28 aircraft fleet which includes 10 single engine DA 40 NG , 4 twin engine DA 42 NG , 10 single engine Piper Archer III, and 4 twin engine Piper Seneca V. Moreover, it has its own Type Specific A320 FFTX Fixed Base Simulator.

QAC's primary air-side is located inside the Doha International Airport which caters flight training. A satellite flying training facility is located at Airfield in Al-Khor which allows QAC pilot training to conduct flying activity.

Futhermore, the flight school has its team of dedicated and highly experienced flight instructors, and full time ground instructors. Its prime customer is the Qatar Airways. Many current cadet pilots are fully sponsored by the national carrier.

The main building of QAC includes  Administration Offices, Departmental Offices, Classrooms, Workshops, Examination Hall, Library, Cafeteria, and Snack bars. Also, within the campus is a mosque.

In terms of residential accommodations, the flight school has four (4) residential blocks providing single-bedroom accommodations for students. It is equipped with Cable TV, Internet Network, Telephones, and Laundry Facilities. Students residing in the college are provided with three (3) meals a day.
