There are two ways to become an IndiGo Pilot; one is direct application to IndiGo (this is mostly done by experienced pilots) and another is through its Cadet Pilot Programme.

For Non Type Rated Pilots
To apply for the position of Senior First Officer, the following are minimum requirements:
- Minimum Total Flight Time : 2000 hrs including min PIC hrs of either 800 hrs on transport category multi engine jets OR 1300 PIC hrs on transport category multi engine turbo prop. Glass Cockpit experience will be preferred.
- Pilots with experience in military flying /
- Maximum Age: 52 yrs as on date of application
- An accident / incident free record at the time of application.
- Course required to be completed: ATPL
- Min Total Flight Time : 2000hrs (Pilots with ATPL and NO civil experience)
or
- Total flying experience of 1500 hours including 1000 hours of First Officer experience on commercial multi-engine jet with MTOW>5700KG or 1000 hours Non-commercial Multi engine jet with MTOW>5700KG. OR Total flying experience of 2000 hours including First Officer experience of 1000 hours on commercial multi-engine turbo prop with MTOW > 5700 kgs or 2000 hours on non-commercial multi engine turbo prop with MTOW > 5700 kgs or 1500 hours accumulated flying experience (of which 250 hours on any multi-engine aircraft).
- Pilots possessing experience in commercial aviation flying/
- Maximum Age:52yrs as on date of application
- An accident / incident-free record at the time of application.
- Course required to be completed: ATPL
- Hours required Min Total Flight Time : 1500 hrs
To apply for the position of Captain, the following are minimum requirements:
- Total Flying Experience of 3000 hours including PIC experience of at least 500 hours on commercial multi-engine jet with MTOW > 5700 kgs or 1000 hours on non-commercial multi-engine jet with MTOW > 5700 kgs. OR Total flying experience of 3000 hours including PIC experience of at least 1000 hours on commercial multi-engine Turbo prop with MTOW > 5700 kgs or 2000 hours on non-commercial multi-engine Turbo prop with MTOW > 10000 kgs
- Pilot -in – Command (Transition)
- Max Age: 58yrs as on the date of application
- An accident / incident-free record at the time of application.
- Course required to be completed: ATPL
- Hours required: 3000 hrs
For Type Rated Pilots
To apply for the position of Junior First Officer (FO), the following are minimum requirements:
- Junior FO must have current COP/RTR, FRTO, Class 1 Medical, and an accident / incident-free record at the time of application.
- Maximum Age: 37yrs, 40 yrs (for pilots > 1000 hrs flying time;
- Indian National with Indian DGCA issued CPL with A320 endorsement.
- Course required to be completed: CPL
To apply for the position of First Officer (FO), the following are minimum requirements:
- Minimum First officer experience of 200 hours on A320 family aircraft
- Maximum Age: 55yrs; Pilots must have current DGCA ATPL, FRTO, RTR,
- Class 1 Medical
- Valid ratings
- Course required to be completed: CPL
- Hours required: Line released on A320.
To apply for the position of Senior First Officer (FO), the following are minimum requirements:
- 1000 hours on commercial Jet or Turboprop with MTOW>5700Kg including 100 Hrs on A320. Previous A320 Rating & with recency on other Airbus aircraft in previous 30 months (A320 re-qualification)
- Maximum Age: 55yrs; Pilots must have current DGCA ATPL, FRTO, RTR,
- Class 1 Medical
- Valid ratings
- Accident / incident-free record at the time of application.
- Course required to be completed: ATPL
- Hours required: Min Total Flight Time : 1500hrs
To apply for the position of Captain, the following are minimum requirements:
- Total Flying Experience 3000 hours including 1000 hours on Multi Engine aircraft and line released as PIC on A320.
- Pilot -in – Command (Type Rated) on A- 320;
- Max Age: 62yrs; Pilots must have current DGCA ATPL, FRTO, RTR,
- Class 1 Medical
- Valid ratings
- An accident / incident-free record at the time of application. Applicants for the role of A320 Trainer should hold DGCA approved trainer status

For A320 Type Rated Expat Pilots
- Minimum Total Flight Time: 5000hrs
- Minimum PIC on Multi-engine airplanes: 3000 hrs
- Min PIC time on A-320 family Aircraft: 1000hrs (current IR/PPC check)
- ICAO English language Proficiency 4 & above
- Max age: 62 Years at the time of application.
- Minimum Glass-cockpit experience 1000 hrs
- Pilots must have current ATPL, FRTO, RTR,

Join IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program
IndiGo has partnered with seven (7) large professional flight schools in order to deliver its Cadet Pilot Program.
IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program with L3Harris Program Route is a full time program with a duration of 21 months, subject to scheduling, where you will learn through Integrated CPL/MEIR either in Florida, USA and/or India. This program requires little to none flying experience. To apply, you should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be between 18 and 32 years of age at time of application
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Minimum Education Qualification: 10+2 with minimum score of 51% / Grade Point 6 / Grade C1 – Individually in each subject i.e. Physics / Mathematics / English or a Higher Degree in these subjects with minimum of 51%.
- Able to obtain and maintain Indian DGCA and FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Have a valid passport and the unrestricted right to live and work in India, with the ability to travel unrestricted worldwide
- Able to produce a Criminal Record Check (CRC) Basic Disclosure Certificate and pass all IndiGo referencing checks
- Pass a selection process
- Must have access to the full funding required for the course
After completion of training and having passed all required exams, you will earn your Dual license: USA FAA and DGCA CPL/MEIR, and if successful, you will be employed by IndiGo.
