Air India has 128 aircraft that include 18 B777, 4 B747, 27 B787, and 79 A320 family aircraft. Moreover, the airline manifested its plan to increase its fleet by 250 aircraft in the next five (5) years (source) which would entail around 3000 pilots.

As of this writing (August 2021), Air India has no pilot cadet programme.

Apply as a licensed pilot directly to Air India

Assuming that you already hold a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), you may apply directly to Air India.

Air India Pilot Salary

  • First Officer: Rs. 212000 (Rupees Two Lakh Twelve Thousand Only) per month
  • Senior First Officer: Rs. 335000 (Rupees Three Lakh ThirtyFive Thousand Only) per month 
  • Commander:    Rs 588000 (Rupees Five Lakh Eighty-Eight Thousand Only) per month on pro rata basis on ATR family (Less than 1000 Hrs.); or Rs. 683000 (Rupees Six Lakh Eighty-Three Thousand Only) per month on a pro rata basis on ATR family (More than 1000 Hrs.)
