There are ways to become a Republic Airways Pilot; one is a direct application to Republic Airways (this is mostly done by experienced pilots) and another is through Republic Airways Cadet Program.

Apply as a licensed pilot directly to Republic Airways

Assuming that you already hold a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), to become First Officer with Republic Airways, you would need to meet the following minimum qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate. 
  • ATP written is preferred.  
  • Meet the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hours requirements set by the FAA and Company.

If a candidate interviews with the interview minimums, but not the hiring minimums, s/he will be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process if s/he:

  • Meets the Hiring Minimums within six months of the interview date.
  • Has no certificate action since the date of the interview.
  • Has no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
  • Accepts class date within six months of the interview date.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Prior customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

ALL Candidates

  • No more than one check ride failure
  • Must be current flight student or CFI
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • FAA First Class Medical (can have lapsed privileges)
  • Resume attached to application

Cadets with R-ATP (1000 or 1250 Hours)

  • Instrument Rating
  • No more than 700 hours or less than 6 months until date of conversion to First Officer

Cadets with ATP (1500 Hours)

  • Commercial Certificate
  • No more than 1000 hours or less than 6 months until date of conversion to First Officer

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Interviews take place year-round both virtually and onsite in various locations. The interview consists of an HR portion during which the recruiter will ask about your documents, qualifications and get to know you as a pilot. There will also be a technical portion conducted by a current Republic Airways pilot. Be prepared to read a METAR, TAF and brief an approach using a Jeppesen chart.
