What is single engine (SE) rating?

A single-engine (SE) rating is a type of pilot rating that will allow you to fly an aircraft which operates on one engine only. Any aircraft requires a certain level of training and knowledge before it can be flown. When learning to fly, most students begin with a single-engine plane. The majority of single-engine planes used for flight training are simple to operate, with fewer controls and systems to learn. SE aircraft are ideal for short missions of less than 300 miles. They can easily access smaller airports with shorter runways, allowing them to enter a greater number of airstrips within their range.
