Do I need student pilot license (SPL) before joining a pilot school?
While you do not necessarily need a Student Pilot License (SPL) before joining a Pilot school, it is recommended to begin the application early on to avoid delays once you reach the solo stage of flight training. The following are eligibility requirements to obtain a student pilot license:
- At least 16 years of age
- Pass Ground school exams and assessments
- Obtain a Medical Certificate enabling you fit to fly
- Get an endorsement from a licensed flight instructor
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
